Irish painter Tara Finnegan was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1989 and works almost exclusively in oil on canvas. She completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art painting from the University of Ulster in 2011, graduating with first-class honours. Since then, she has been pursuing her career in art education and her independent studio practice.
The undercurrent of her work revolves around history, memory, and identity. Tara has a deep passion for exploring abstract compositions and researching colour theory. Her artistic journey has been profoundly influenced by her experiences, from growing up amidst political murals in Belfast to embracing cultural and religious traditions in the Middle East, and now residing in England. Her art predominantly explores the surrounding landscapes, both domestic and agricultural.
Her talent and potential was recognized when she was voted "One to watch" by Northern Ireland's monthly Homes and Lifestyle Magazine upon graduating from Ulster University, earning a full publication on her work.
Moreover, Tara was awarded a prestigious support fund from the Arts Council Northern Ireland, enabling the acquisition of 13 of her paintings for a 10-year traveling exhibition in Museums and Galleries across the UK.
Currently, Tara shares her knowledge and creativity through workshops when not working from her studio in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
